love my kitties BUT.....

i hate their hair! UGH!!!! what was i thinking when i bought this williams-sonoma home newport dot duvet in navy blue? UMMMMMMM....not sure!! i have about 6 duvet sets [okay, checked and i am at 7 - ops! what can i say.....i like change!!] for my bed that i rotate throughout the year. i bought the newport dot in navy blue awhile back but didn't decide to use it until this weekend. i have had the duvet for 3 days and now look at it....
you probably can't tell very well from the photo, but there is cat hair ALL OVER!!! UGH!

the culprit... but that's the price i pay for having kitties, especially this guy! ha! ha!

oh well, here is a photo of the 3 lampshades i bought at pottery barn over the weekend. the blue seems much lighter in the photo, but it looks nice with the newport dot bedding above. i like to coordinate my lampshades with my bedding.

it's growing on me.......more importantly it was too good of a deal to pass up! basically 3 shades for about 75% of the price of 1! ha! ha!

mixed feelings...

this morning i stopped at starbucks and decided to ventured around the town square to do a little shopping. i stopped in front of what used to be williams-sonoma and asked a manager who was on her way to her car if they were remodeling? she was like nope, we closed last sunday! ARGH!!! SERIOUSLY?!!?!? i am totally bummed! plus a few other stores are closing or have already closed as well!

luckily, there are other williams-sonoma stores around but this one was close!! oh well, have you notice a number of stores closing near you? what's next? wait, i don't want to know!!

so i ventured over to oak brook after deciding against driving over to michigan ave. it was warm, but not warm enough! plus it was drizzling out, so i decided to go to oak brook. i stopped at williams-sonoma, didn't see anything i needed and walked out empty handed - shocker!! HA! HA! they had certain pieces of all-clad cookware on sale including a little butter warmer, which i already own. they had it on sale for $79.99 or was it $69.99 --- i think someone made an error since i have seen it priced $49.95 at places like sur la table and crate & barrel. ha! ha! guess they were trying to pull a fast one! plus, the nutcracker towels from christmas were normally $19.99 on sale for $13.99 ---that's not much of a deal for after christmas! oh well, so much for the finding "good deals" at williams-sonoma, ha! ha!

curious if anyone has tried teavana? love this tea! it could be my absolute favorite!! i am a huge fan of argo tea, but there aren't any locations in the suburbs of chicago. however, teavana has a location at oak brook. if you haven't tried this tea, you are missing out! try it once and you'll be hooked! i tried a sample of the spicy double chai or something like that? ended up ordering one before leaving and it was something like $5.43 [something like that, can't remember the exact price off hand but it was close to $5.50]-- not cheap, but delicious! not sure why it was so expensive but it certainly tasted good! can't wait to go back and try some other tea variations! YUMMY!!! might have to invest in a cast iron teapot -- one of these days!! :)

i ended up buying 3 navy blue euro flare lampshades at pottery barn. too good of a deal to pass up! normally $39.00 each on sale for ONLY $8.97 each! SWEET!!! 3 shades -- exactly what i needed! ha! ha! i am not used to the euro flare but they are growing on me. i will post photos tomorrow. i lucked out, i wanted blue shades to match my williams-sonoma navy blue polka dot bedding. the shades go swell with my riley lamps from restoration hardware. it's amazing how simple changes to a room like changing up bedding and lampshades can bring NEW LIFE to a room!!

oh well, hope you all had a wonderful weekend! i enjoyed having my windows open for a couple of hours and air out the place! changed bedding from ralph lauren's guinevere to williams-sonoma home's newport dot in navy blue. getting ready for spring, it's right around the corner -right!??!?! ha! ha! i know it's far from spring in chicago, but a girl can dream can't she! ha! ha!

i'm back and need some advise...

i had such a great weekend with my sorority sisters. it's been a very long time since many of us have gotten together besides at weddings and baby showers. what fun! can't wait to do it again soon! too bad i can't "drink" like i did in my 20's! nothing worse than waking with a hangover....UGH!!

i am an aunt again! my SIL had her 3rd child today. i am so happy for them, yet i am sad. like the old saying always a bridesmaid never a bride. in my case, always an aunt, never a mom! totally SUCKS! i would SO love to be a mom! i know god has a plan for everyone and being a mother must not be in the cards for me! oh well...thanks for letting me vent for a moment!

hope your week is off to a great start! tonight i made scallops & shrimp pasta. both my husband and i were very impressed! i made a creamy scampi-like sauce. basically i sauteed 1/4 stick of butter, canola oil , S&P, lemon juice and 2 cloves of garlic. eventually added some sherry and cream. YUMMY! the sauce was light and not very overpowering which was great! i love it when i make meals from scratch! i wonder what's for dinner tomorrow night?

oh speaking of "cooking" --- sur la table has a SALE going on right now! 20% off SLT bake ware! i picked up a few more baking supplies - a cake pan, loaf pan and 2 mini loaf pans! great deals!! head on over to sur la table...you won't be disappointed!

ahhhhh....wine tastings and a weekend with sorority sisters = great memories! is it friday yet?!?!?

so excited, next up what to pack? seeing that i won't be "flying" my LV keepall will be definitely make the trip! not sure why but when i "fly" i leave me LV keepall at home?!?? am i the only one who does this? guess i am afraid someone will steal it from me. i wouldn't be SO concerned if i could add it to my personal articles insurance policy, but they don't insure my LV's!

plus, the weather will be in the 30s this weekend -- YIPPEEE! pathetic that weather in the 30s is considered NICE this time of year! if you lived in chicago like i do, you would understand! ha! ha!

today i received the latest l.l. bean home catalog...lot's a cute stuff inside! one of my favorites is this lobster vacationland hooked rug for ONLY $24.95! can you say....ADORABLE!!

is it friday yet?!?!?!?! i am SO excited b/c this weekend i am heading to michigan for a weekend with a number of my sorority sisters. it's been a long time since we have all gotten together --- so excited! if only we were still in our early 20's! ha! ha! better yet....if only i could party like i did in my 20's! ha! ha!

some girls were talking about getting tattoos....me, ahhhhhh - NO!!! today i heard kim kardashian say,"You Don't Put A Bumper Sticker On A Bentley" ---- HA! HA! HA! love it!! there will be a lot of peer pressure but i will NOT give in, nope --- no thanks, plus i am chicken! bock! bok!

TGIF!!!

ahhhhhhhhhhhhh, nothing like coming back from florida a day before the weekend! yippee!! although it's going to be a chilly weekend here in chicago....luckily last night the lexus started, no problem! we we worried having sat outside at midway for 8 days in frigid temps but nope, no problem! surprisingly there wasn't a lot of snow piled up on the roof either...which was great considering neither of us had "winter" clothing on! ha! ha!

oh well, below are promised photos from a couple of small purchases. i also bought a medium blue table runner i picked up at williams-sonoma but it's still packed away. turns out someone at the naples store made a boo boo and i benefited from it, hee! hee! the runner was $82.00, marked down to around $40 and there were 2 tags --- 1 for $14.99 and the other higher - can't remember off hand. i got it for $14.99 since the skew was the same....SWEET! went to another williams-sonoma and the same runner for still marked at $40.00 ----hee! hee! love it when those deals come around!

below are my newest pair of jack rogers. too bad i didn't have a real opportunity to wear them while i was down in florida, but that's okay! plus they are the ones with the slight heel....like i said, too good a deal to pass up for $45!!! :)
plus, here are the 2 mackinzie childs knobs i picked up at zazou in naples. i knew it! the lady was adamant about the knobs coming from the same dye lot ---- WRONG! the size was different and the color was much darker! so glad i bought 4 last year and needed 1 more for my desk. so i traded the one out from the desk so the 4 would match w/the fish knobs. it all worked out in the end, but i hate it when people think i don't know what i am talking about! clearly the newest knob is darker, fuller and although it is the same pattern it is different...so there sales lady! ha! ha!

and not sure if you can tell the from my BAD photos the shapes....clearly the one below is more like a jelly bean than a circle from the side...sorry, i have a horrible headache and my mind is not working! ha! ha! hopefully you get the just of what i am try to say...
oh well, here's the one for the nightstand:oh well, have a wonderful weekend! i'll post some more photos shortly....once my headache is gone! my husband wanted to take me to braxton's for lobster, but i don't feel like going! SERIOUSLY....i must have a headache! ha! ha! then again we had seafood for the past 8 days and i think something else actually sounds better! oh well...

hello ladies!

greetings! hope this post finds you well! we have been in florida all week and are heading back to chicago tonight --- at least that is the plan, hope our flight doesn't get cancelled due to the UGLY weather in chicago!

well, i'll be honest --- the weather SUCKED PERIOD! of course, it was nice the 1st day we arrived and then again today - go figure!!! oh well, we still enjoyed ourselves regardless of the weather!

i have included a few photos from naples the connection is VERY slow at the airport! more photos tomorrow, enjoy! if only i had this scenery to enjoy when i get home, NOT! snow! snow! snow! ---- ugh, did i mention SNOW!!!!

i scored a pair of white jack rogers for 1/2 off! seriously, too good of a deal to pass up! picked them up at a store on captiva island ---towards the end, can't think of the name of the store but starbucks was next door. they had other pairs, colors i already owned ----but AWESOME deals!! if you are heading there be sure and stop by --- there could be a pair of jack's waiting for you! ha! ha!

we had plenty of seafood and lots of shopping! 2 of my favorite things, hee! hee! we ate lunch at tommy bahama's in naples....a MUST if you are in naples, at least i think so! bought 2 more mackinize child's knobs and some goodies from williams-sonoma.

hate to leave florida for chicago, but at this point i have no choice! my cousin lives near tampa and said there was a story in the news yesterday or the day before about iguanas falling out of trees b/c they were frozen -- SERIOUSLY?!?!?! too funny, okay sad but funny!!

oh well, our flight departs in an hour and a half --- let's hope we make it back to chicago w/out any delays! it's going to suck locating our car in the parking lot --- after a weeks worth of snow, UGH! i am so looking forward to sleeping in my own bed!
