M.I.A.
looking forward to a 4 day work week, friday is a holiday for us! yea!! although i think i am going to go get my eyes checked. i think i need reading glasses...UGH!!
although, i do own [some where?] a pair of giorgio armani reading glasses that i got when i was in boarding school...yea, at the time they were $300+ glasses and wore them a handful of times! however, i did love those tortoise shell glasses! very stylish for the time --- early 90's, ha! ha! and well now think i could really use them! ha! ha!
oh well, if you are keeping up with the final four --- two words.... MICHIGAN STATE! yea!!
have a great night!

a walk down memory lane...plus a little shopping!!
as you can tell it looks like my old apartment went condo and it looks as though a lot of people are on the move! i wonder what they go for? ha! ha!
so let's see, i lived in wrigleyville, lincoln park, the loop and even spent a year down in beverly. good times! prior to purchasing our first house in elmhurst.
oh well, below are my purchases for today. i have wanted one of these stylers, i saw an infomercial on it. let's hope i can do something with my straight hair! ha! ha! notice my little lilly pulitzer luggage tag and the newest addition to my herend fishnet collection a pair of bunnies!
have a great weekend!
~ PLD
below is a photo of the rest of my collection. sure enough, there's the pig i almost bought --- again! ha! ha! my collection is small, wish i had more!!!!
jack rogers...for real??!!
okay, where have i been? i know stewart weitzman makes a similar pair but i had no idea jack rogers made them as well. again, where have i been? ha! ha!
best of all they are a steal for under $35.00!do you own a pair? if so, are they comfortable? i want to know.
i am tempted to buy a pair just because they are so cheap! they would be perfect for the beach and the pool, no need to worry about getting the leather wet!
click here for the link to the site i saw them on.
seriously....under $35.00! wow, i am sold if they are comfortable...anyone?!?!!?!!

deals...deals...and more deals!!
first off, i stopped at nordstrom rack. originally i wanted to go there to check out the shoe section. turns out they had 1 pair of the clear w/crystal jack rogers look alike from stewart weitzman. they were a size too big, otherwise i might of purchased them!
anyway, while at nordstrom rack i ended up purchasing 2 cute adrienne vittadini sweater sets - one in black and the other in oatmeal. they are so comfortable, can't wait to wear them! $101.00 for both sweater sets, not bad considering full retail i would look at around $248.00. PLD loves a deal!!
turns out i picked up 2 pairs of penny loafers. one pair in black patent leather and the other in brown suede. retail: $98.00/pair, on sale at the store $69.99/pair --- less 70% = KILLER DEAL!!!
have a great day! if you have a land's end near you --- check it out! i told myself i was NOT going to check out the men's section! i am sure i would have easily spent another $100.00! ha! ha!

has this ever happened to you?
i ordered 4 rolls, 2 variations with soft-shell crab, 1 with lobster and the other with shrimp. YUMMY, right! 4 rolls seems like a lot, but when you don't EAT the rice --- it doesn't seem like much!all i can say, i am thankful my friends were with me! i was told towards the end of our meal that i could not leave more than 3 pieces of rice/seaweed or they would charge me $1.00 per piece! are you effin' kidding me! SERIOUSLY....yup! UGH!!! the only reason i ordered 4 rolls was b/c it was all you can eat...no where on the advertisement does it say that 3 piece rule!
the rolls were yummy and i am embarrassed to say i had to eat the seaweed/rice part of the rolls! WTF! i purposely AVOIDED eating the rice for that reason, the rice fills you up fast - DUH!
i was so full, guess that's how they keep people from ordering more than they could eat! UGH! normally, i only order 2 rolls --- so that was double the amount i could handle, although the lobster roll i only had 2 pieces so then it was more like a little over 3 rolls! good thing they weren't BIG rolls, but still!
needless to say for breakfast i had an orange...still a little stuffed! gee, i wonder why? can't believe the sushi nazi made me eat my sushi! ha! ha! the whole point of trying a all you can eat is to try new items! whatever, good thing we didn't order 10+ rolls--we would have really been in trouble at that point! ha! ha!
overall, the sushi was awesome and i certainly got my monies worth for $24.95, plus tax and tip...out the door for $32.00 ---not bad, but i think i am done with sushi for a little while. after all, i just had sushi this past saturday with another friend. ha! ha!
oh well, have a great day!

can't wait...
can't wait, i am so ready for sandal season! it's been a looooong winter! especially, living here in chicago!so my next question is how many pairs will i end up buying this year? maybe another monogrammed pair of emma's? only time will tell...can't wait to add another pair or two! hee! hee!
too bad the dress code at my new job is business casual. i wonder if i can get by wearing my sandals? i certainly hope so!
oh well, hope you all had a chance to check out my new ralph lauren duvet. i scored such a great deal on it! i mean $595.00 retail, $349.99--- less 75% off! out the door around $93 after tax...too good of a deal to pass up! YEAH!!!
oh, before i forget i have a question for you. do you have framed art over your bed? i want to hang the two large botanical prints show below:
i'd love to hear your thoughts, thanks! otherwise, i will wait wait and hang them some place else? oh, decisions! decisions! decisions! ha! ha!

a duvet addiction?!!?! ha! ha!
like i need more bedding! ha! ha! i stopped at the ralph lauren outlet store and found an adorable duvet cover on sale for 75% off! sweet, huh! yeah, retail $595.00 - on sale for $350.00, less 75% --- not bad, my total oop was right around $93.00 after tax! SWEET!
the pattern is called hinton hills wainscott floral and it's absolutely beautiful! i will take a photo of it tomorrow, but for now you can see an image of it below. i found one on ebay:
sorry, this is the only photo i could find. i was hoping to find something online but haven't had much luck! ralph lauren has a hinton hill furniture line, but that doesn't help me see what the actual duvet set looks like in a photo. ha! ha! i believe this pattern originally came out in '08? not sure though? if you have any information about this pattern, please share it with me! thanks!!
the ralph lauren outlet store only had the duvet in stock. i really want the pillow covers, but can't seem to find them online? for now that's okay, i think it would look beautiful with white ruffle sheets!
can't wait to see how it all turns out! i love changing up my bedding, i think this makes 7 duvets now! ha! ha! it's like having a duvet addiction! hee! hee!
on a different note, how many of you have valid brackets? i haven't been watching the tournaments much, nor do i get into doing brackets but from what i have heard there have been some huge upsets --- like kentucky? aren't they out and they were a 2nd seed? anyway, the important thing for me is knowing that my boys are moving on! yes, that would be the michigan state spartans, of course!
go MSU!
now i would talk about the healthcare bill but i am not even going to go there! all i can say is i am disgusted and i will leave it at that!
have a great night!

UPDATE: below are some more photos of the hinton hills wainscott floral duvet. it's made out of a very soft linen material. hope you can see the colors....i just love the browns, greens, blues and pinks in the pattern.March 15, 2010

however, this movie looks like it's going to be a hit! i am definitely going to put this one on the list!

UPDATE: trish asked me to share the details of meeting someone famous.
certainly, back in the early 90's....i am almost positive it was back in '92? anyway, my family and i were coming back from spending two weeks at our timeshare at the trapp family lodge [you know the von trapp family from the sound of music] in stowe, vermont. driving home we often passed through lake placid, new york. we ended up spending the evening and this also happened to be my parents anniversary. my parents had plans to go out to dinner and offered to let my sister and i see the violent femmes and the b-52's by ourselves! not a bad gig if you ask me! we went and had a fabulous time! the next morning we had brunch at a fancy country inn. while we were leaving we ran into the b-52's! turns out that's where the band spent the night. YES....they are as freaky in person! ha! ha! so we ended up getting their autographs, of which i still have somewhere? pretty cool experience and awesome concert!!!
i have also met other famous people, but that was one experience i thought was worth mentioning here on my blog.
March 14, 2010
seriously!!!
let me tell you...
let me begin...saturday morning in chicago forecast --- RAIN!!! of course! while i was planning what i should wear i was more concerned about what to wear inside so i wasn't going to be too hot. i ended up wearing a black ribbed ralph lauren turtleneck sweater w/jeans and my black uggs. almost didn't bring a jacket...so glad i did, brought my yellow burberry raincoat --- just in case! opted to wear my lightweight barbour jacket since i could easily wrap it up and put it in my louis vuitton.
well, we arrived at the shedd aquarium and the rain was really light! good sign! as we make our way up to the shedd i saw a line....GREAT! it's frickin' cold outside, plus rain ---UGH! good thing we decided not to go to the st. patrick's day parade. anyway, we stood outside in line for about a hour!
i knew i should of purchased tickets for the night before...what was i thinking?!?!? next time...note to self, purchase tickets the night before! thus standing in line forever!!
after about 45 minutes standing outside i turned around and the line was so much longer! not sure if you can tell but look how far back and off to the left the line was....UGH! those poor souls were looking at least 2+ hours before getting inside....if that were me, i would have said -- forget it!! ha! ha!
after about standing in line for about 1 hour and 15 minutes we finally had our tickets to get in and to see fantasea and planet earth. eventually we met up with the rest of our party and we were off!
lunch at surroundings cafe...great! i ordered some organic asian wonton salad w/flank steak. it was tasty! great choice....so i thought!!
after enjoying our lunch we were off to the 2pm showing of fantasea. i couldn't help but think of the dolphin show at sea world when that woman was killed by that whale. well, no whales at this show! the kids had a blast!
then we went to the planet earth show...okay, no one told me about the jab in the back! water sprayed in my face a few times, etc. okay, what a waste of money...i know it was included in our ticket package --- seriously, that 4-d show sucked! oh, i know why it's 4-d --- for the jab, water spray, etc...ha! ha! ha!
oh well, then we headed down to the wild reef and EVERYTHING went south from there!
my stomach started not feeling good. UGH! without going into too much detail, let's just say "food poisoning" was setting in! UGH! what a horrible experience, especially getting food poison at a public venue! lucky me, NOT!!
let's just say my day was over! so much for going out and celebrating all the st. patrick's day festivities!
i can't believe i got food poisoning from the organic wonton salad w/flank steak. was it the salad or the steak? i don't know but after everything, i don't care if i don't go out to eat for a long time! seriously, it was that bad!
i felt bad my SIL just bought a new honda odyssey touring edition and i am sure she wanted to show it off to us as we help them out to the car. i felt so bad that i didn't say anything...ops! how rude of me! oh well, all i wanted was to get home!
oh well, so that glad that WHOLE ordeal is done and over! UGH!! today i am vegging at home and watching lifetime!
thinking about picking up some fresh cod for dinner! oh, and some more easter candy! ha! ha! forgot to mention, my nieces loves the bunnies and the jelly beans and reese's pieces were a hit as well!
have a great day!

shhhh! come on over...
lots of fun festivities planned for this weekend! let's see we will be watching [part of] chicago's st. patrick's day parade....i'd rather be on the southside of chicago at the southside irish parade, but that parade ended last year. now they are going to have block parties...which they always had, ha! ha! it's a wild time in chicago that's for sure!
actually, the reason we are going to the chicago st. patrick's day parade is because our nieces are coming down from milwaukee and we are all going to the shedd aquarium. hmmm...maybe a trip to the american girl store? they are young still in the bitty baby stage...but maybe? not sure how much time we will have? if not, another time for sure!!
below are 2 rabbits i picked up for my nieces. i also picked up some cute easter themed ziploc type bags at the dollar tree. in addition i stopped at jewel-osco and picked up some YUMMY --- okay, REALLY YUMMY -- hawaiian punch jelly beans from brach's.
oh well, i plant an putting the candies inside the baggies and trying them with green grosgrain ribbon and attaching them to the rabbits. i wanted to give them something small so that their parents could carry the rabbits around the shedd. i was going to do baskets, but thought those might be a hassle carrying around the shedd! ha! ha! plus, i didn't want to confuse them since the easter bunny leaves easter baskets anyway. good times!!
so now let's talk weddings!! i will be celebrating my 10 year anniversary in a couple of months! it's amazing how fast time flies!

another tragic loss...
not sure how many of you remember the lost boys....but growing up in the 70's this was one of my favorites. another childhood favorite of mine was stand by me. corey haim wasn't in this movie but corey feldman, river phoenix, wil wheaton, jerry o'connell and kiefer sutherland were. back when i had a HUGE childhood crush on wil wheaton. he was so cute when he was young...now not so much! ha! ha!
oh well, seems so many people are giving up and taking their own lives. it's sad, very sad!
my heart goes out to corey haim's family and friends!

and the WINNER is RUBY!!
oh well, hope your tuesday is going well! chicago has finally reached temps above 50 degrees! FINALLY!!! so exciting, seeing that's it's been 3 months since we have seen 50+ degree weather! ha! ha! the snow is almost gone and i can feel spring knocking on my door! ha! ha!
i have a question for you. not sure if you know the answer to this or not? i need to find a relatively inexpensive place to have a piece of glass to cut to go over my desk. i called a local glass place and they said it would cost around $47.00 and would take about a week to cut. i was hoping to find something a little cheaper, but if it comes down to it $47.00 isn't so bad if it's going to prevent the wood on my desk from getting scratched? any thoughts?
oh well, have a great day!

i am actually going to make this as a salad on lettuce.tomorrow i really watch to try the thai shrimp curry w/chopped lettuce --- minus the red peppers and the basil-lime couscous.
i am always looking for new recipes. i really enjoy cooking, too bad my husband isn't looking forward to the thai shrimp curry dish -- too bad, he likes his stuff "hot" and me not so much! ha! ha!

it's here and lilly pulitzer giveaway remind...
not sure where i am going to put it but for now it's on the landing. white walls - ugh! tell me about it! can't wait until i can paint again!!!
bunnies, can you see them? ha! ha!
this console would do better on hardwood floors, but the only place i could put it for now is carpeted. and well, i have cats!
the console table is stable, but i am worried they are going to jump up on it and knock it over. so for now it's not worth putting anything of value on it! you never know....after all, cats do the strangest things! hoping this never happens so for now i have left to simple decor --- a silk plant and my bunny trio. yes, my bunnies move around a lot! ha! ha!
i think the animal print works nicely with the finish of the table. anyway, i just wanted to share my purchase with you. rue la la has some amazing sales! however, i am the type of person who normally doesn't shop online --- i need to see the merchandise first! nothing like getting something and having to shop it back --- such a chose for me!
also, wanted to remind you about my lilly pulitzer stationery giveaway. for details and to entry my giveaway, click here.
...good luck!
on another note, i am so glad i didn't watch the bachelor finale. we all knew he was going to chose vienna and ally would become the next bachelorette. it is just me but does this show ever get old? same story different people each time around! plus, how many of these couples actually stay together? exactly!
speaking of "reality" tv, i was channel surfing and came across a new dating show with frank from i love ny. yes, i will admit i watched a few of those episodes -- lame, i know! anyway, frank - sorry, can't remember his nickname -- anyway, he has his own dating show now too! really! guess i should not be surprised! ha! ha!
have a great day!
