decisions! decisions! decisions!

earlier this week i made the mistake [not really, just trying to be a good wife...NOT! ha! ha! ha! ] of asking my husband to pick out our next vacation destination. so guess where we are going in april? las vegas, go figure!!! at least there is plenty of shopping in vegas, so i guess it's a WIN-WIN for everyone, LOL!

it's been 5 years since my last visit. i know so much has changed since my last visit. i'm not sure why he chose vegas, he will be heading back out there in june for work, whatever! needless to say, i am pretty excited!

we are going to be going for 5 nights, personally that's a bit to long to be in vegas if you ask me! 2-3 nights is perfect! as much as i love vegas, i hate walking the strip being bombarded by "illegals" and children passing out passes to strip clubs! i hope the city of las vegas has cracked down on this practice! it's a real bothersome seeing children pass out that crap!

what are you favorite shopping destinations? fashion show mall, citycenter, caesars, venetian, bellagio, etc? the only place i haven't been to is the citycenter. i'll definitely be paying a visit to citycenter, might even pick up the gucci wallet i want if they have it in stock? one in navy to match my vintage hobo below:

the only downer about shopping in vegas is the sales tax 8.10% isn't much better than chicago! ha! ha! ha!

the last four trips to vegas, i also made it a point to take the bus out to the outlets in primm, nv at the california border. why?!?!!? of course, the williams-sonoma outlet! although, i could wait and go to the one in leesburg, va in june? who knows??!! the outlets in primm also had a tod's outlet, not sure if that is still there or not? fun! fun! fun!

then of course, i can't wait to check out some of the fabulous restaurants in las vegas. luckily, living in chicago we have a lot of the same restaurants so it will be easy to weed out the chains like N9NE, smith & wollensky, the grand lux cafe, spago, etc.

if you have any good recommendations for sushi and seafood restaurants in vegas? please let me know, thanks!!!

we are staying at the palms and i can't wait to visit the little buddha. i also can't wait to check out the social house and my husband is a huge fan of the buffet over at the rio --- endless lobster, although i don't recall the lobster being very big and they were rather dry/over cooked if anything.

one of my favorite places to go for breakfast is the le creperie at paris, YUM!!! we are definitely going there one morning for crepes! plus, the buffet over at the bellagio is another one of my favorites.

okay, i feel like i just gained 5 pounds describing a few of my favorite places to eat, LOL!!

what are your favorite things to do in vegas?

i am looking forward to vegging out by the pool, going out to eat, walking the strip, checking out a few bar [not much of a "club" person anymore] and of course shopping! okay, maybe take in some gambling! i'm not much of a "show" person, i have a very short attention span....LOL!

also, can't wait to finally wear my jack rogers/bonanno's again! too bad they aren't fit for "las vegas" walking, LOL! that's okay, i'll pack my tennies and keen walking shoes!

hope you are all having a fabulous weekend! can't believe i went shopping at oakbrook and walked out with NOTHING! i wanted to see about purchasing a blue gucci wallet to match my purse, but they didn't have them. guess i will hold off on that purchase a little while longer, LOL!

last night we went out for lobster and oysters over at braxton's! love that place, YUM! as usual the food was amazing! i saved the heads and the bodies so i can make lobster bisque. maybe tomorrow?

today i stopped over at homegoods and found this cute little easter dish. i could fill it up with jelly beans, otherwise it also makes for a great holder for letters, bills, etc. i thought it was a steal for $14.99!

i love the jean overalls the bunnies are wearing, too cute!!

of course, as soon as i got home i had to check out all the deals over at one kings lane, rue la la, gilt groupe, joss & main and hautelook.

i couldn't help but take advantage of the deal of the day over at hautelook. yup, i ended up ordering one of these invicta wildflower watches for ONLY $49.00! definitely, too good of a deal to pass up! as much as i love my movado, it will be nice to wear something else. i have a gucci and a burberry watch, but do i ever wear them...NOPE!

i just hope i like it as much in person as i do online. i have only seen these watches online and not sure about the quality. guess i'll find out in a few weeks, LOL!

it's about time! my monogrammed totes finally arrived from l.l.bean!yeah, as if i needed any more totes!

oh well, i have to admit it was the post i recently blogged about regarding the "traveling office" that i found in oprah's magazine. do you know what i am talking about? if not? maybe this photo will help trigger your memory:
pretty excited to create my own traveling office! now i have to make it over to staples for a box of navy blue file folders and my personal traveling office will be good to go, lol! if anything i hope it will help me keep everything in order. ha! ha! ha!

how are you spending your valentine's day? ....hope it's a preppy one!

my husband is in michigan for work, so it will be me and the felines tonight! possibly, yet another night of sushi? let's see, i had it on friday, yesterday and now tonight? hmmmmm? is it possible to have too much sushi? hmmmm, i'll be the judge of that! HA! HA! HA!

oh well, hopefully you were able to enjoy some warmer temps this weekend! yesterday we were in the upper 40's! such a treat compared to the frigid weather we have had lately! by the end of the week we will be in the upper 40's ....can't wait! that means one thing...sandal season is around the corner! YEAH!!!

speaking of sandal season, we have to get through spring first! on that note, are the pillows on your sofa and/or settee feeling a little dated? nice thing about pillows they can really spruce up the look of a room quickly! i don't know about you, but i am in constant need of change! change is good, right?!!? LOL! although, if it were up to my husband the answer would be a BIG fat NO!!! HA! HA!

speaking of shopping....hope you are making a dent in your holiday shopping! friday, i stopped over at nordstrom rack to use up the $50 GROUPON i purchased a few weeks ago. anyway, while i was there i saw the CUTEST burberry clothing for children....at nordstrom rack prices, HELLO!! little quilted jackets, like me black on sale for ONLY $149.00! perfect for that "mini" on your shopping list! ha! ha! it's not too late, i am sure you can find plenty of burberry over at your local nordstrom rack.

so i am still waiting for my smaller mason pearson brush to turn up! i thought for sure, if i bought another [which i did] that my other one would turn up...well it hasn't! WTF?!!?!?it's probably packed away in some box? who knows??!!? i was really hoping to find it, but no dice!

hope you all had a wonderful weekend! i still have a hard time believing thanksgiving is in a couple of days, ha! ha!

anyway, yesterday was another fun day of shopping! my day started off with a stop over at the junior league of chicago's gazebo holiday market. i bought a piece of pottery from a woman who has a etsy shop, but lost the card. it seemed as though there were fewer vendors that previous years, guess it's a just a sign of the times!

while at neiman marcus i broke down or whatever you want to call it and bought another mason pearson brush over a neiman marcus. it's large than the one i lost months ago! i can't believe it took me this long to replace it, but know --- now that i bought another the missing one is bound to turn up, right?!!?!? i hope anyway, ha! ha!

in case you are curious about my monogrammed jewelry case, i posted a photo of the bottom below. as you can tell from the photo above i tried to hide my initials with little lilly pulitzer shift magnets, hee! hee! isn't the pattern cute, i still love it and have had this now for about 6-7 years! can't remember the brand but i know the price tag back then was around $70?!?!
i also stopped over at harry & david. it was sample time over at oakbrook! i was impressed they had wine samples, food samples, candy samples and much more! it was awesome! i bought manage this mug for tea. a steal for $9.95, my husband wants one now! i knew i should have bought two!!! it's awesome, it has ceramic holder piece for the tea which can be removed and then the lid for brewing! i just love the pattern!!

while out i made a stop over at allioto's in oak park! love this store!!! i was going to pick up another piece of herend, but didn't see anything that really stuck out!

instead, i scored a killer deal on a set of 6 pickard monogrammed butter dishes! retail price $246.00, i scored an additional 70% off! best of all the monogram is the same letter of my maiden name! such an awesome deal for around $88 after tax! i am sure my parents will have fun with these additional pieces. actually, my father enjoys bringing out their china more than my mom! i wonder why, who is the one stuck cleaning everything, exactly!!!! ha! ha! after all, you can never have enough china! ha! ha!

greetings! hope you all are glad the political ads are done and over for awhile! too bad, it makes room for holiday ads! LOL!! what are we down to now -- 52 days until christmas? something like that anyway!

last night i complained on twitter about flights being astronomically high! seriously, $1,000 for two people to fly to florida over new year's, really?!?!!? i certainly hope to score a better deal! ha! ha!

tuesday's post...

hope y'all had a wonderful weekend! despite the cold and rainy weather we had a wonderful time up north. we actually enjoyed some "sunshine" on sunday, hence this beautiful photo of lake michigan from the homestead below. if only we were still up north!! check out this other view of lake michigan, you can even see the sand dunes off in the distance. oh well, back to reality...right! LOL!

i forgot to tell you it was rainy when were up in petoskey and harbor springs, so i picked up a pair of keen newport sandals...LOVE 'EM!
i wanted them for awhile but never got around to actually buying a pair! so glad i did -- now i want another pair! i bought them b/c my the hot pink jack rogers i was wearing got a little too wet and my feet were slipping all over the place. sadly, jack rogers and stephen bonanno sandals aren't made for rainy weather. i have to tell you i haven't had such a comfortable pair of sandals since my birkenstock days! LOL!

oh well, i was happy to see that when i got home this evening that my town & country magazine arrived, along with the T&C wedding edition...YIPPEE!!
also, my one kings lane orders arrived! yippee!! i ordered another sterling silver frame from siena and a lead and collar from wonderdog......funny thing, we don't even own a dog..HA! HA!

HA! HA! the lead and collar were too good of a deal to pass up! don't you just love the sandal theme....too cute!!oh well, have a great night! time to relax and check out my town & country magazines!
