it's so miserable outside, ugh! supposedly our forecast includes rain, sleet and eventually snow! sounds fabulous, NOT! it's a good day to just stay inside!

my husband ran over to borders and brought me back a small cocoa trio! YUM!

yes, that is a spode coaster! don't judge, ha! ha! ha!

isn't this painting beautiful! i love it! this is one of my favorite oil paintings from jane mcfeely, an artist back home in grosse pointe, mi. mrs. mcfeely is such a talented artist! check out a close up of the detail of this painting..LOVE IT!

can't wait until next year for the junior league of detroit to host another designer show house, so i can buy another painting! at least i hope they have another show house!!!!

what do you think of the mat and frame i chose for the paintings? i had the paintings framed over at the great frame up. i am still looking for the lights to hang over the frame, just haven't found any that aren't a couple of hundred dollars! ha! ha! ha!

anyway, she included a photo of a LV and gucci wallet. The wallets were in fabulous condition and i couldn't help but think of my husband's "poor" gucci wallet. yes, the one in the photo below: i bought this wallet for my husband back in '05. so i guess i shouldn't be so surprised! after all, he got a good 5 years use out of it! ha! ha! ha! but still, i wonder what i could sell it for on eBay? LOL!

new finds....

greetings! hope all of you mother's had a fabulous mother's day! we spent the weekend up in wisconsin and had a great time!

not sure what happened to spring, it's been a tad bit chilly here in chicago! brrr!

i stopped at homegoods and almost bought the napkins below:

the napkins are listed at $9.99 for a set of 6. great deal, i know! plus, i love the lobster and crabs!

i am thinking i might have to go back and buy them, not sure why i didn't? but whatever! maybe i was just having one of my frugal moments! ha! ha!

don't you love the navy blue adirondack chair! i love it, but have no place to put it! homegoods has lots of great items for sale at the moment. normally i find it hit or miss!

oh well, i finally picked up my painting from the great frame up. didn't they do a FABULOUS job! i LOVE it!! now it's time to contact my insurance company and ad this piece to my fine arts collection.

not sure if you can see the oil technique that was used below? the paint is raised, you'd think being a commercial design major in college i would remember, right?!!? too bad, i don't! ha! ha!
oh, before i forget last night i stopped at sur la table in naperville to do a little shopping. i picked up some cedar plank boards for grilling. i also picked up one of those stainless steel grill plank savers, basically allowing you to reuse plank boards multiple times.

my husband was excited and can't wait to grill some salmon! that is once the weather gets warmer! oh, i just looked out the window and guess what is back? RAIN!!!! UGH!

oh well, on my way back to my car i saw this duck and her babies...i think there were 4 or 5 of them? she didn't let me close and i didn't want to disturb....too bad i didn't have my digital camera, so i had to settle for a distant view from my phone camera -- we all know those photos SUCK!! ha! ha!

can you see the babies? aren't they adorable!! looks like some restaurant dropped off some food! hee! hee!

oh well, have a fabulous tuesday! i need to get ready for work! fun! fun! fun!

weekend recap...don't miss this post!!!

sorry i have been MIA for a couple of days! i was in michigan for the weekend and had an absolute blast! it was great to catch up with friends i haven't seen in awhile. don't you love it how you can go a year or two or more w/out talking to someone and then you see each other an pick up as if it was yesterday!

the designer show house was AWESOME! i forgot NO photos allowed inside! so i only have outside photos to share with you. the designers did an AMAZING job! this was one of the better houses and locations the junior league of detroit has chosen!

i love the palm plants....mind you this is michigan, not west palm beach! ha! ha!

while at the designer show house, i purchased the oil painting below. it definitely reminds me of home! isn't it beautiful! i love it!!!

i love the sailboats sailing out on the water. it's just like summertime in grosse pointe or GP as we call it! so this will be a great memento to remind me of home, while i live my daily life back in chicago.

the only problem with this painting was it was framed. yeah, the frame is cute----don't get me wrong, but not the look i was going for, so after much work i was able to release the oil painting from the glue gun fest on the back of the frame! so scared i was going to chip the oil or hurt the painting, i managed to get it loose -- whew!
below is the oil painting i bought at the designer show house back in 2006, same artist. don't you just love her work! truly AMAZING! anyway, the this is the look i want for the sailing by the beach oil painting above.
