another fun shopping venture...

sorry, it's been over a week since my last post!

anyway, i am in grosse pointe for the weekend. it's so great to be back in michigan, even if only for the weekend!

today my mom and i went shopping at Somerset and had lunch over at Brio...yummy!! it's so much fun shopping with my mom! too bad i don't have a chance to do it often! we stopped at louis vuitton, i was so set on purchasing the neverfull gm but of course -- my luck it was SOLD OUT! bummer!! either i pick it up when i am back in chicago or wait until i am in michigan next. oh well....

so sur la table "finally" opened at somerset last week! it's about time!! they had a pretty exciting promo going on....spend $50, get a cookbook for FREE -- it's a $35.00 value alone! so of course each of us ended up with a cookbook! hee! hee!

i ended up picking up a couple of things. like i really need ANYTHING else!! ha! ha!

let's see... i got 2 white serving pieces and a cookbook from sur la table, plus a can opener...but who needs to see photos of my can opener right...LOL! plus, a lilly pulitzer umbrella and set of shift magnets. i really wanted a burberry umbrella to replace my current burberry umbrella, but they didn't have what i wanted...so i settled for a little pulitzer umbrella instead and saved about $125 in the process...LOL!!we even had enough time to stop over in birmingham. seeing that ribbons is gone, i had to visit my other favorite store in brimingham called stacey leuilette. i could do some serious damage at that place!! HA! HA!

i couldn't help but purchase this adorable key fob. don't you love it!! it was a steal at $25!! guess we all know where i stand politically! LOL! i also picked up a mariposa sticky note set too. it will be perfect for my desk!

oh yeah, in case you were still looking for your next lilly pulizter bicycle...it's STILL for sale!

oh well, it was a beautiful day and below are couple of other photos from my quick visit to birmingham...

below are photos of two buildings, of which one of them was the location of my grandparents art gallery. i always thought my grandparents had their art gallery at the one that the one below, but my mom was thinking it was where TOAST is today? who knows...my mom was a teenager when they had the art gallery.

oh well, then tonight i went out for sushi with a good friend!

hard to believe september is here, kids are back in school and fall is right around the corner! time to start thinking about planning the next trip to florida...LOL!

you see chicago really has only two seasons --- summer and winter! with that said, it's almost time to part with my favorite sandals...my beloved jack rogers and stephen bonanno sandals! i told you i would eventually post of sandal wheel...too bad my silver pair is not pictured as i accidentally left the sandals north...ops!

my sandal collection would have grown by two had the sandals below been in my size...DARN IT! i really wanted those green and white --- aka michigan state sandals! next time i am up in petoskey, michigan maybe i will get lucky! plus, they were on sale for ONLY $68.00 -- bummer!!

yes, it was a tad bit on the chilly side --- i think it was 62 degrees out at the time this photo was taken. brrrr!!
oh, if you ever make it up to bay harbor, harbor springs or petoskey --- be sure and check out cutlers! i love this place and make it a point to shop there every time i am in the area.

tuesday's post...

hope y'all had a wonderful weekend! despite the cold and rainy weather we had a wonderful time up north. we actually enjoyed some "sunshine" on sunday, hence this beautiful photo of lake michigan from the homestead below. if only we were still up north!! check out this other view of lake michigan, you can even see the sand dunes off in the distance. oh well, back to reality...right! LOL!

i forgot to tell you it was rainy when were up in petoskey and harbor springs, so i picked up a pair of keen newport sandals...LOVE 'EM!
i wanted them for awhile but never got around to actually buying a pair! so glad i did -- now i want another pair! i bought them b/c my the hot pink jack rogers i was wearing got a little too wet and my feet were slipping all over the place. sadly, jack rogers and stephen bonanno sandals aren't made for rainy weather. i have to tell you i haven't had such a comfortable pair of sandals since my birkenstock days! LOL!

oh well, i was happy to see that when i got home this evening that my town & country magazine arrived, along with the T&C wedding edition...YIPPEE!!
also, my one kings lane orders arrived! yippee!! i ordered another sterling silver frame from siena and a lead and collar from wonderdog......funny thing, we don't even own a dog..HA! HA!

HA! HA! the lead and collar were too good of a deal to pass up! don't you just love the sandal theme....too cute!!oh well, have a great night! time to relax and check out my town & country magazines!

greetings from northern michigan!

check out these adorable pairs of jack rogers....if only i wore a 7.5 or a 8! DARN IT!! both pairs on sale for ONLY $68.00 at robert frost in petoskey, michigan. if you are from michigan or familiar with michigan -- UofM and Michigan State...well, then these jack rogers have a special meaning! pretty cool huh! so bummed they were NOT in my size!!!!

on our way back from glen arbor to the cottage this morning, we stopped at a local farmer's market. check out this amazing display....
also, check out this fudge "sampling" [or grazing as i call it, LOL!] that was over at cherry republic in glen arbor. i couldn't believe they didn't have each piece sliced up into little pieces. i wonder how many slices they are going to go through today at this rate, LOL!!

it's raining in leland...ARGH! it's been rather windy up here with 35+ mph winds! great surfing weather, check out the waves along lake michigan....AMAZING!! that's okay, feels more like a fall weekend up north than anything! i am glad i picked up a sweatshirt while in harbor springs! i certainly needed it today....brrrr!!

oh well, the rain has stopped and it's time to venture around leland! have a great day and GO MICHIGAN STATE!!!

we are having a great time in northern michigan! yesterday we went over to charlevoix, petoskey and harbor springs for the day. the weather wasn't the greatest but it didn't stop me from shopping. ha! ha! ha!

right now i am enjoying a cherry hot chocolate at cherry republic in glen arbor. it's still a tad bit on the chilly side....brrrr! today we are going to go to a couple of wineries. can't wait!

hey there, hope your week is going well! tomorrow we are leaving for upnorth to enjoy some time up at our cottage in michigan...can't wait! have i packed...NOPE! have i started the laundry....YUP! someone needs to get on the ball and fast!! nothing like waiting until the last minute! HA! HA!

oh well, i have been meaning to share with you my husband's poor gucci wallet. isn't it lovely...NOT! i purchased this "matching" gucci wallet from saks back in 2005 or was it 2006? i know it was back when we were still living in grosse pointe. i wonder what i could get for it on eBay?!?!? LOL!

how does your husband's wallet look? this bad? i think it's time to buy him another gucci wallet...whaddya think? maybe a black gucci wallet to match my black gucci purse...LOL!!!

oh well, if you don't hear from me for a few days i will be here:

enjoying a long weekend visiting my favorite towns [leland, glen arbor and suttons bay], a few wineries and even making my way over to shop in petoskey, harbor springs and charlevoix. maybe meeting up with a friend over in bay harbor? the weather is suppose to be fabulous, can't wait!

ahhhhhh,a new week is finally upon us! luckily, it's a short work week for PLD! we are heading up north to our cottage....finally going to MICHIGAN! i feel like i haven't been there in forever, so excited! looking forward to visiting my favorite places --- leland, suttons bay and glen arbor. although this trip we are actually going to head over to petoskey, harbor springs and charlevoix for a day. i am pretty excited, i haven't been to petoskey, harbor springs and charlevoix in a couple of years...can't wait!!!

yesterday, i took my niece and she wanted a caramel hot chocolate with salt -- it tell ya, teenagers! what ever happened to ordering a simple hot chocolate or a frappachino!

seriously, this is the same niece that declined my friend request on facebook --- whatever, i won't even get into that topic! like i am a facebook nazi or something, she kills me sometimes! it's tough being 13 in 2010!! LOL!!

monday's post, come on over...

i hope you all enjoyed a fabulous weekend! we had a great time up in northern michigan. i visited all my favorite towns including suttons bay, leland and glen arbor. i didn't make it up to northport, guess i will have to save that for when we head back up over the 4th of july.

i planned on going to a couple of wineries yesterday afternoon, but NO....i had to deal with HORRIBLE allergies instead! UGH....totally sucked! needless to say, i took a sudafed and an hour and a half later i was out for the night! boo!

yeah, nothing worse than constant sneezing followed by itchy eyes! UGH...thank god my mom was around and had some visine and sudafed. ha! ha!

oh well, at least i had a great time out on my parents new boat, made a couple of trips over to cherry republic - YUMMY, shopping and hanging with my family....overall it was a GREAT time!

i am still trying to plan our trip for july. i keep going back and forth between out east and down south [east coast] -- hopefully i will make up my mind soon! i am ready to pack up my LV keepall and travel again! ha! ha!

oh well, tomorrow i am looking forward to checking out rue la la's garmin and hyatt vacation sales! if there's a good deal at the hyatt in cambridge, maryland -- i might just have to jump on that deal!

also, i would like to purchase a garmin nuvi. i was going to buy one about a month ago at costco, but my husband talked me out of it! my t-mobile g-1 has many of the features, but it's a phone and when i am in places that don't have much of a connection it doesn't do me any good! we shall see..... well, i just showed my husband and he says to keep looking, whatever! i need to make up my mind soon, wherever we plan on going? ha! ha! he's just worried about the oil spil making it up the coast.

before i forget, has anyone been to the hyatt regency chesapeake bay golf resort, spa and marina in cambridge, maryland? did you like it? any thoughts? please share, thanks!

it's pretty close to annapolis.....another one of my favorite vacation destinations! guess i will have to wait until tomorrow to see what sort of a deal rue la la has and then i can decide!

saturday's post...

hope y'all are having a wonderful holiday weekend!

we FINALLY made it up north last night! traffic around chicago and indiana sucked. once we made it to michigan that it was smooth sailing! THANK GOD!! it's so nice to be up north! i love it up here, but could never live up here -- nah, no thanks!

i made it over to traverse city to pick up a pair of shorts i bought over the phone and couldn't help but take advantage of their sale! today they have 25% off all shorts and capris! have you checked out their capri selection! so many wonderful colors! i picked up 3 pairs of pants, 1 pair of shorts and 2 t-shirts!

i also ventured over to suttons bay and leland. while in leland, i stopped at haystacks and they have those jelly jack rogers i posted about a while back. they were only $68.00, tired them on --- okay, NOT for me!! they were so uncomfortable, needless to say i did not buy a pair! ha! ha!

now i am over at cherry republic in glen arbor taking a break and had a couple of things to do on the internet. next up a little grazing! ha! ha!

so i read gary coleman died yesterday....what ya talkin' about willis! so sad, he was only 42. i also read that dennis hopper also died! also, very sad!

for all you hockey fans...tonight it's the blackhawks vs. the flyers! i am cheering on the flyers, yeah they took out the red wings but if i have to cheer on a team --it certainly won't be the blackhawks! yes, i live in chicago but i will NEVER convert to a chicago sports fan! no thanks! ha! ha!
