The commission/fee structure is fair, less than what i would pay to a consignment shop! Curious if anyone has bought or sold on their website? They sell tons of Lilly Pulitzer, Jack Rogers, Gucci, Louis Vuitton, Tory Burch, Burberry, etc. I love that once an item has been purchased the shipping box is set to your house, you assemble the shipment, sent the item out and get paid once the item is scanned in transit to the buyer. HUNTER boot fans, i need your help!

tuesday night before all the snow hit chicago, i stopped over at nordstrom rack and bought these tory burch rain boots. best purchase of the week, LOL! seriously, they are super comfy! relatively warm, nothing like my UGGS but still pretty warm!
you know the old saying, don't just a book by it's cover! well, i had the whole "wellie" fad all wrong! can you believe i want a pair of HUNTER wellies! i am seriously SHOCKED! no i don't plan on wearing them every day but when it rains or we have snowy weather they are great for traction! unlike my UGGS that have NO traction!!! you'd think for all the $$$ i spent on my UGGS they would have a little traction....NOPE!! don't get me wrong, i have (2) two pairs and a pair of slippers! they are supper warm, just NO traction!!

anyway, i love my tory burch rain boots but the red is a little loud for me!

so i want some advise....what style of HUNTER boots do you own or like? original, huntress, regent, carnaby...so many choices, help!!!! also, should i buy a pair in black, hunter green or navy? seeing that the tory burch pair is navy it might be a good idea for another color? decisions! decisions! decisions!

blizzard of 2011, in photos....

hello!

so glad the 1st part of the chicago blizzard of 2011 is over! sadly, this storm has a 1-2 punch! temps are going to plummet to -4 tonight. basically, insanely cold weather! UGH!!!!!

thank god for a SNOW DAY! i ventured outside with my husband and took a few photos. i have to tell you the view from my bedroom window is VERY deceiving!

above is a photo of me sporting my new tory burch rain boots! i bought them just for the blizzard of 2011! yup, sure did! i am so glad i bought them b/c my UGGS certainly weren't made to handle this amount of snow!

instead of "footprints" in the sand, how about "bootprints" in the snow...LOL!and to think i was going to be able to back out my SUV and go to work! yeah, right! what was i thinking! so glad we ended up having a snow day at work!
i am very disappointed, it's 1:30pm and the plow trucks have yet to arrive! NOT ACCEPTABLE! our neighbors dog across the street was having the time of his life! you should have seen him run all around! too cute! yeah, we really didn't get much snow! ha! ha! ha! check out this guy who thought he was going to be able to start his car and move it....ummmmmmmm, not a chance! sorry!
...it's still there, LOL!

UPDATE: the crew finally came around to dig us out at 4:00pm! only took 5 ppl with shovels and this new holland 185! wow, i want one of these!LOL!

better yet, i'm adding one of these to my christmas list! i've already priced them out.... $9,500.00! LOL!

i just couldn't resist...

supposedly the "big one" is coming! how many times have we heard this before? i think the last time the "big one" played a visit to chicago was back in '99 around new years. at that time, my husband and i were down in florida and missed it! although, i do recall our flight being delayed out of tampa but that was what 11 years ago!

seriously, i'll believe it when i see it! after all we live in chicago and we are used to this sort of stuff! if that's the case, why are so many people stocking up on food, salt and all the other essentials? it's kind of crazy! i understand if we lived around D.C. or something but chicago? it's chicago people, lol!

speaking of essentials, i did treat myself to a new pair of tory burch rain boots! see my UGGS just won't cut it if we get 18-24 inches of snow that is forecasted! so i figured, i'd venture out for something new.

in case you were curious i found them at nordstrom rack! yup, $59.90....beats the $150.00 retail price tag! i have to admit, i'm SHOCKED at how comfortable they feel! i also really like the navy blue lining up the back. the red is a little "loud" for me, but they'll come in handy over the next couple of days, LOL! i had a pair of ralph lauren "rain boots" about 10 years ago they were similar except they were navy blue with yellow lining. wish i still had them, think i threw them out when we sold our house in elmhurst, illinois and moved back to grosse pointe, michigan. of course this was long before the whole "wellie" fad!

speaking of the "wellie" popularity phase, would believe i don't own a pair of hunter wellies! the more these "rain boots" as i like to refer to them became popular them more i disliked them! shocking, i know! so why did i buy them if i am so against them? that's simple, i bought them so i don't ruin my UGGS. plus, when it rains they'll come in handy! no you won't be seeing me wearing them on a daily basis....although they are really comfortable! maybe they will grow on me? ha! ha!

oh well, hope i haven't offended anyone!

on that note, i'll bring up another topic....wordfeud! OMG, i am obsessed with this game! i don't play video games! okay, many years ago i played pac-man, miss pac-man, donkey kong, mario brothers and centipede....you know back in the day of atari! you know back in the 80's, ha! ha! ha!

well, wordfeud is SO much fun! it's free and i love it! i was so excited when i used the word JOUST and scored 90 points that i took said photo below:call me a dork, i really don't give a shit! i was so excited to score 90 points on one word, i had to take a photo to show the non-believers, lol!

wordfeud also reminds me of playing scrabble with my grandma when i was young! what i wouldn't give to play another game with her today!

oh well, i have something things to do around here before gossip girl! have a great night!

awesome finds....

good afternoon! how's the weather in your neck of the woods?

it's snowing here in chicago, yippee! pretty i've heard it's snowed as far south as altanta...crazy stuff! i remember one year we were on our way back from spring break in florida. we ended up being stranded in atlanta, ga for 2 days!

i read some report that even today, atlanta has something like 8 plows, seriously?!?! i know snowy weather doesn't happen often, but it certainly seems like it has in the past couple of years.

anyway, we were stranded at a marriott hotel near dunwoody, ga. it was great, the only place open to eat was a frickin' pizza hut! ugh, yea it pretty much sucked! it could have been worse, half of our party was stranded on I-75 for over 24 hours! again, this was back in the mid 90's a few years before cell phones really became popular! they are able to laugh about it now, but they wren't happy campers at the time, LOL!

worst of all, my grandfather passed the day were were stranded. so my sorority sister drove me to the airport and i ended up flying back to michigan for the funeral. speaking of my grandfather, yesterday would have been my grandparents 70th wedding anniversary! god bless their souls!!!

hey there, hope you all had a wonderful christmas! now it's time to start focusing on new year's eve! big plans?!?!!? we are going to be on the beach some where in florida, can't wait!

as promised i've posted a few photos of some of my loot from christmas. can't believe i actually have time to post photos! i should be packing since i am only leaving for florida in a day....UGH!!!!

oh well, guess i was a pretty good girl this year..LOL! let's see...for christmas i got a pair of gucci horsebit sunglasses, tory burch revas in brown, a pocket planner [by graphic image] from neiman marcus, a ralph lauren candle and a north face metropolis parka in NAVY blue.

~ just in time for the chicago winter season...YEEHAW!! plus, i got this adorable little porcelain bowl from ann marie murray. i just love her stuff! isn't this cute! i love the holly and the red trim around the edge...so cute!plus, i also got this ornament that my parents actually picked up while on vacation in williamsburg earlier in the year. represents time spent away at boarding school..LOL!! my sister also lived in arlington for a few years and worked in alexandria, so of course she got one too! ironically, we never lived there the same time!

plus, my mom also bought us an awesome digital ornament that holds up to 200 photos.pretty cool, can't wait to start loading some fond christmas memories!!

i also got a 32" LG tv which i actually got back at thanksgiving. plus, i got some towels, a monogrammed boudoir pillow from williams-sonoma home, phone accessories for my mytouch4 [t-mobile], a subscription to my hometown newspaper [the grosse pointe news] and an awesome painting of my house.

almost forgot about this adorable metal basket...prefect for entertaining, holding mail, etc.
overall, it was a fabulous christmas! oh, let's not forget a few gift cards and a gift certificate to the village palm [the lilly pulitzer store] back home in grosse pointe!

hope you all had a wonderful weekend! i still have a hard time believing thanksgiving is in a couple of days, ha! ha!

anyway, yesterday was another fun day of shopping! my day started off with a stop over at the junior league of chicago's gazebo holiday market. i bought a piece of pottery from a woman who has a etsy shop, but lost the card. it seemed as though there were fewer vendors that previous years, guess it's a just a sign of the times!

while at neiman marcus i broke down or whatever you want to call it and bought another mason pearson brush over a neiman marcus. it's large than the one i lost months ago! i can't believe it took me this long to replace it, but know --- now that i bought another the missing one is bound to turn up, right?!!?!? i hope anyway, ha! ha!

in case you are curious about my monogrammed jewelry case, i posted a photo of the bottom below. as you can tell from the photo above i tried to hide my initials with little lilly pulitzer shift magnets, hee! hee! isn't the pattern cute, i still love it and have had this now for about 6-7 years! can't remember the brand but i know the price tag back then was around $70?!?!
i also stopped over at harry & david. it was sample time over at oakbrook! i was impressed they had wine samples, food samples, candy samples and much more! it was awesome! i bought manage this mug for tea. a steal for $9.95, my husband wants one now! i knew i should have bought two!!! it's awesome, it has ceramic holder piece for the tea which can be removed and then the lid for brewing! i just love the pattern!!

while out i made a stop over at allioto's in oak park! love this store!!! i was going to pick up another piece of herend, but didn't see anything that really stuck out!

instead, i scored a killer deal on a set of 6 pickard monogrammed butter dishes! retail price $246.00, i scored an additional 70% off! best of all the monogram is the same letter of my maiden name! such an awesome deal for around $88 after tax! i am sure my parents will have fun with these additional pieces. actually, my father enjoys bringing out their china more than my mom! i wonder why, who is the one stuck cleaning everything, exactly!!!! ha! ha! after all, you can never have enough china! ha! ha!

hope you all had a wonderful week! i can't believe i did this, but i let my husband go hunting this weekend! i am so against the idea, but what am i going to do?!?!!?

at least this way i can attend the junior league of chicago's gazebo holiday market tomorrow over at the chicago cultural center [78 E. washington], which will be open from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. in case you are in chicago and want to attend there is a $10 admission fee, which includes a commemorative tote bag. can't wait to see what i purchase this year?!?!?!

so the monogrammed boudoir pillow cover i ordered from williams-sonoma home arrived tonight! now i just need to run over to calico corners to purchase the pillow. the turnaround time was fast, i think i just ordered it last week?

seeing that the holiday season is almost here, luckily for me i am pretty much done with my shopping! yup, only have one person left on my list --- my mom! pays to shop early and often, ha! ha! so anyway, i was checking out the deals over at gilt groupe [here's the link, if you aren't familiar with gilt groupe] and ended up buying a 32 inch LG LCD television --- they had a shipping promo, .01 cent shipping! can't wait for the tv to arrive, i have the perfect spot for it in my bedroom!

currently, i have a 19 inch sony but it's time for a bigger screen! winter is coming and that means time to catch up on all my movies!!! BTW....target's black friday 2-day sale includes copies of "dear john" for ONLY $6.00! i want a copy!!!!! hopefully, they will still be around friday a.m. since i won't be one of those 4am shoppers --- i like my sleep, ha! ha!

lookie what i bought....

yesterday, i had some time to kill before the MICHIGAN STATE/MICHIGAN football game. so i decided to head over to bloomingdales, williams-sonoma and tory burch.

unfortunately, $2.50 in the meter doesn't buy you much time in chicago! i think i had like 53 mins. in the metter, so i must have only put in $2.25? such a joke! it's even worse in the loop, i think it's $5.00/hour and i think it's suppose to go up to something like $8.00 in 3 years?!?! don't quote me, something like that anyeay! at least up in lincoln park $1.25 buys you 60 mins., LOL!!

anyway, i bought these adorable sunglasses at tory burch.

i originally wanted to see if they had the tory burch breast cancer umbrella in stock, but turns out they have not shipped out to the stores yet! oh well.... at least i bought a cute pair of sunglasses! like i needed another pair...just like i need another pair of jack rogers or stephen bonanno's, LOL!!

i also had enough time to treat myself to a pedicure. what do you think of the color? it's "you're a pisa work" by OPI. i think that's the color? don't you love the preppy color combo below. sporting my new pomme/white stephen bonanno's....okay, it's the closet green i could get for MICHIGAN STATE!
we'll we all know the outcome, MICHIGAN STATE kicked some MICHIGAN a$$! oh yeah, bragging rights my friends! you'd have to be a MICHIGAN fan to understand, LOL!!

plus, the RED WINGS beat the chicago BLACKHAWKS --- same night they received their rings from winning the 2010 stanley cup. yeah, glad to see the RED WINGS put a damper on the BLACKHAWKS banner night!

then if that's not enough...the LIONS, yes we are talking about the DETROIT LIONS actually WON! actually they really kicked some st. louis RAMS a$$ today! winning 44 - 6...unbelievable, personally i was ecstatic! yeah! GO DETROIT!!!

needless to say, it was a fabulous weekend to be a MICHIGAN sports fan...okay, that is unless you are a fan of MICHIGAN....hee! hee!

oh well, hope you all have a wonderful week! just a couple more weekends until we head up to kohler, wi and door county, wi...can't wait to check out the fall colors!

better late than never, right! below is the photo i promised to post of my new pomme & white stephen bonanno sandals and black tory burch reva's. both arrived at the end of last week...YIPPEE!!!so excited, especially with the pomme & white color combo of my bonanno's!

now i have a combination of 16 pairs of stephen bonanno/jack rogers! i almost bought one more pair while up in lake geneva, wisconsin this weekend but didn't b/c the bootery up in lake geneva didn't have a color combo i wanted. so the count remains at 16, hee! hee!

i did pick up a new bottle of perfume while up in lake geneva. the perfume is from england and it's called white grape from di palomo.

sounds crazy, white grape but i have to tell you this scent is amazing! great light summer scent. after spraying a few squirts, i was sold! feel free to check out the company's website over at http://www.dipalomo.uk/.

yes, in case you noticed from my last post from starbucks how much longer my nails where - you were right! PLD as a BAD HABIT....if one nail chips, they all get trimmed! so i clipped them all down. luckily, i was blessed with great nails! i get it from my mom's side of the family. people pay thousands of dollars every year for fake nails, luckily mine my grow back within weeks!

another visit to the lake...

greetings!

sorry i have been m.i.a. for a few days! it's been a crazy couple of days around here!

not to mention my dell inspiron laptop is having some serious issues! it keeps shorting out on my and won't boot up properly...so annoying! after some 15+ times turning it on/off it eventually kicks in. so annoying! i have only had this laptop for 2 years! seriously, all the $$$$ i spent on this --- i tell ya, i may NEVER buy a dell again! you know back in the early 90's i had one of the original macbooks - not "original" but back in the day, ha! ha! back when they retailed around $2,800.00...GULP! the laptop is long gone, but i still have the receipt some where ---why? not sure? ha! ha!

i am debating if i should buy another laptop or take it to someone and get it fixed? i am always concerned about someone getting personal information off my computer. oh, what to do?!!?!?

oh well, enough "computer talk" i wanted to share with you some photos i took last weekend. we made it up to lake geneva, wisconsin after all! we weren't going to go b/c of all the flooding in chicago, but got around it --- no problem!

yes, we were just there two weekends ago [previous blog post] and we are going up again this weekend! such a fun little town to visit....and shop!!
